Aqua Legion UK is able to offer a range of fully UKAS accredited Legionella testing, water sampling and microbiological testing services. Our consultants are highly experienced in legionella testing for cooling towers, and domestic hot and cold water services. We also provide a range of Drinking water sampling services and tests to include chemical analysis, via our UKAS accredited laboratories as standard.
Legionella Testing in Cooling Towers:
The HSE’s ACOP, L8 Guidance Document details the requirement for routine legionella testing for cooling towers. Water samples should be collected from the cooling tower and tested for legionella at least on a quarterly basis. Where a new system is commissioned legionella testing should be conducted monthly until it can be proven that the system is under control.
In addition to Legionella testing and sampling, cooling towers should be tested for aerobic bacteria on a weekly basis using diplides and at least quarterly by a UKAS accredited testing laboratory. All our samples are tested via independent UKAS accredited laboratories.
Chemical testing of the cooling tower make up water and cooling system water should be conducted to cover the weekly, monthly and quarterly tasks as recommended in the HSE’s, ACOP L8 Guidance document.
Legionella Testing in Domestic Water Systems:
There is no legal obligation to carryout legionella testing or sampling to the domestic water systems. However, there are many cases where legionella testing is recommended and indeed would benefit an organisation. Where it is considered necessary Aqua Legion UK are able to offer a range of legionella testing and legionella sampling services to cover any water system.
Legionella testing will be required to cover domestic water systems where storage and distribution temperatures cannot be controlled within the desired ranges to control bacterial growth and where systems are treated with biocides to control bacteria.
Legionella testing and sampling will also be required in systems where the control levels are not being consistently achieved or when an outbreak is suspected or identified or in hospital wards and care homes etc where particularly susceptible individuals may be present or where a history of legionella exists.
